About This Program

The Townsville Family Violence Support Service supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals impacted by family and domestic violence—both victim survivors and persons using violence.

The service recognises that safety, accountability, and healing must be addressed together to create lasting change.

Working from a holistic and culturally appropriate approach, the team provides safety planning, case management, and coordinated referrals to legal, health, housing, and other essential services.

Staff are trained in trauma-informed practice and collaborate closely with other YML programs and community partners to ensure comprehensive, wraparound support.

“I’ve got good neighbours and it’s nice and quiet. I’m grateful to be where I am now. Yumba-Meta put a roof over my head and gave me some direction.”
